About this course

About this course

Does your institution have more than one instrument (database) and want to move data from one instrument into another?

Description: We will analyze and migrate users and their data from one instrument to another, including:

  • Analysis by our team and approval by your team
  • Migrate all users and their data from one instrument to another, with agreed upon mapping
  • Will migrate any requested reports

Service Provided: The Faculty Success Instrument Migration project includes up to 20 hours of Technical Consultant work. After an initial analysis by a Watermark Technical Consultant is approved by your team, we will perform the migration in the beta environment. Migration data in Beta will be available for one week for review prior to migration to your production instance. This allows you to check that everything is as expected before we do this in the production environment the following week. After migration data has been migrated to your production environment, Watermark will disable your original instance.

Normal migration schedule:

  • Migration analysis and review (2-3 weeks)
  • Monday morning of week 4, migrate data into Beta
  • Monday - Wednesday admin and/or data lead review of data in Beta
  • Thursday - Friday, provide and work through feedback with your technical consultant
  • Monday of week 5, migrate data into your production instance

Target Audience: Universities with more than one instrument

Participant Responsibilities: Faculty Success admin and data leads will need up  to 4-8 hours of availability for reviewing/responding to  the Migration analysis and spot checking data during the beta migration. Faculty Success admins and/or data leads are responsible for evaluating migration data in Beta in the week (5 days) immediately following migration of data into Beta

Preparation: Please have the background and goals for this migration ready before purchasing.

Method: Remote. Migration or integration work usually happens asynchronously between technical teams. If a meeting is needed, all session(s) may be recorded.
